These are gloves with hard material (called slide pucks) on the palm attatched with velcro that a downhill or freeride skater wears so that they can put their hand on the ground for balance during a slide. Some skate gloves have pucks on the finger tips, do not get these gloves, there is not enough surface area of velcro to keep those pucks secure. Leather gloves last longer but are hotter inside, other materials are easily torn but more breathable.
