My DH setup

  • Deck:

    Happy board Co Vokuhila.

Custom width of 8.75" at rear bolts. About half an inch wider than stock.

The Vokuhila has an upturned nose and tail (2 degrees for the nose, half a degree for the tail). I didn't want my front foot angled up so I (partially) leveled it by adding ride height to the rear. You can see this in the side view. Also dewedged the rear by 5 degrees to compensate for the board wedging and the small wheelbase.

    Trucks :

    Robot oblivion.

50/20 degree baseplates. In theory, 50/17.5 with the wedging, but I don't have an actual measurement.

    105-119mm wide

    10mm rake

Spherical bearings in both hangers, riptide pivot cups

Bushings are hpf Venom barrels. Tall boardside, standard roadside. Duros are 97/97 rear, 78/78 front. Chamfered for spherical clearance.

Small flat washer in front, flat washer in rear.

20.375" axle to axle wheelbase. 18.375" measured from inner bolts.

    Wheels :

Mach1 Cannibals, mounted on the wider setting front and rear. Total tracking width is 214mm. They're on the narrow setting in the photos but I've found myself preferring the extra width lately.

    Grip, mods, etc:

Shangang grip tape (brown) and 24 grit zirconia sanding belts (turquoise)

Skate tech large footstop and 1" ergo torque block.

  • These type of setups you gotta do a few barefoot runs to get the feel for

  • @John Hower fire setup +1 for the happy +1 for the robot oblivion trucks. Fires setup I would skate this

  • @John Hower Absolutely love this setup!  I saw the process of your trucks getting anodized blue and dig that color.  That blue has to be one of my favorites.  Just a thought though on your truck wedges, I would pull them back so one edge of the truck is touching the board, and let the wedge control the angle.  You may have to redrill the wedge and it'll stick out the back slightly(unless you cut it), but it'll lower your center of gravity and height off the board.  Robot Oblivion makes some of the most beautiful trucks...his machining skills are incredible.
