I think it 'swurlt

you notice your high dollar 69mm freeride skateboard wheels are all swirly looking after you've skated 4mm off of them just fine, do you

  • Hate it or Skate it?

I have taken this set of 69mm Powell Peralta DH Primos ( 78a 'Paster formula') down to about 65mm and not had any real issue with performance that I can tell , so far.

I looked at them as I was prepping to go out of country to skate today & wondered if they are dependable to continue trusting them

I have, generally, not experienced the inconsistant or unpredictability that it seems a lot of skaters say a swirled urethane in a wheel brings to freeride in the 5 or so sets  I have had like this over the years. Maybe an old set of Elixer seismic might have been bad but it's been a while.

Oddly, I have noticed grip differences in swirled race wheel urethane but not on freeride to a great enough degree I would not skate the wheel.

    What's your take?

  • Those look swirled, but I think that they will probably skate fine. Here is an egregious swirl on my red kevs from last year. When there is a visible height difference on the swirl/not swirled portion, they feel really bad. The swirl on yours looks more mild.

This is a classic powell lack of qc issue. Every green kevin I've had in the past few years was swirled. Purples haven't really had this issue recently in my experience.

  • @Gabriel Fockler this is consistent w what I've seen around other skaters swirls & appreciated 🙏🏻

yeah, I'm gonna skate them / take with .

I love red Kevin's after skin gone on OMJ

( e: seriously, the higher end brands need to further separate themselves from mids status & sak up to some Premium QC at these prices

the fact I even have to ask or hear from you about raised swirls at >$60 a set is absurd)

  • Get off the Powells and get on some Real Wheels like Venom, Seismic or Cuei etc

  • I had the same issue with my red krimes they were fine at first but started to oval after a while. I would definitely ride em until they are unrideable.

  • @Brian Lugbill see these nuts
