I think my downhill setup is a heavy hitter....

  • I have noticed that my most recent - and favorite - grippy race setup is heavy when I compare it to my homies' and fellow crew setups.

I have a custom Zenit ( bullet mold/bullet shape) that I am in love with. It has Ronin gen1 billet chops and I run big race wheels on it ( Delta or Mag) .

I was picking up a GMR with the spine the other weekend & those are known to be heavy if they have the aluminim truss/spine in them. My setup even seems heavy compared to those.

I weighed the thing and it is 11.2lb with Seismic Delta on it. 11.1 lb with mags .

What does your DH setup weigh in at?

I am curious to hear other grip setup weights .

  • Thats incredibly heavy for a board without a weight. Mine has a 420g (0.93 lb) hammer head and in total weighs a little above 4kg (8.8 lb). And our setup its not that different, including the big wheels sooo yeah, thats a brick. But why???

  • @F Llabata I think the Ronin gen1 are heavy & might make 1 of those lbs difference but , I swear , ordering 1 xtra ply and the full carbon offerings* for the thing make up that additional 2ish LBs difference you point-out ; it has to be that . Anyway, it's for someone much heaier than me and I think that overkill was a heaviness bringer.

(*edit  - orered that to ensure stiffness and no torsional flex would eek its way from wear into my setup for longer than a few years. It is a very stiff thicc setup but may be too heavy for me to throw around like I want..I'll have to just bulk up
