Torsional Flex Bogeyman

  • How much torsional flex should actually worry me as a beginner?

Context: I have a 2016 Kebbek Emma Daigle Switchback and its 7ply with fiberglass. I've never had the time to fully commit to learning freeride and now that I've started I'm paranoid that my deck is gonna kill me. I also know that you can't really give the best assistant without a photo.

    I'm about 5'10 @ 150-160 lbs?

  • You should be fine. Torsional flex interferes the most with stand up toe sides. I dont mind a good amount of flex on my prism theory v2 (also a 7 ply with fiber glass). It's not going to kill you. You may find that stand up toe sides are a little harder to get leverage and under control at very high speeds. The concave of your deck also greatly combats any kind of twisting. Flatter decks are more prone to twist in the middle. You have a really great board and should ride the hell out of it.
