Hey,
I recently got my hands on some second hand 88 wheel co mavericks. They feel pretty good but I want a bit less slowdown power and longer slides. I'm thinking of cutting 5mm off and see how that goes. Does any of you have experience with reshaping wheels?
this video has been out on YT for ages ; if you do not have access to machine shop, I have seen the MM cut done with the grooviong technique of a car wheel on a jack and the hanger mounted wheel be spun against ; I would not publically recommend holding a sharp blade against a rotating wheel to slice the desired mm of edge off but that is what I have seen done before. It is crazy dangerous vs just filing grooves that way.
Thanks mate, I'll probably just give it a go with a grinder and a sanding disc. I have gotten some flat spots out using that method.
Turned out good. I just used a grinder to cut 5mm of each side. They work great now, a big fat freeride wheel 😁
Little late on my end but, round lip always better for less edge grip!
@bastiweber1987666 hell yeah! those became Avricks w -obviously - nothing more than elbow-grease & a skatetool!
* oh. I see there was a grinder used ; as in , a 4" grinding disk grinder?
