Roast mySetup, O. FOX, Zia Trucks

  • Owen Fox

    Zia Trucks 170mm 44*

    (Hopefully not too) Rusted Bearings

    Defcon Speedvents/S9 Race Forms/Whatever wheels

  • Trucks are a bit of a mismatch from what I would expect to see, but perfectly serviceable. Would be better on some zealous or whatever dh truck.

  • @Gabriel Fockler

I mean they are precision DH trucks. Only 5 sets were created and I only know one other person who has skated them. I've skated Paris, Gunmental, Caliber, Sabre & these are by far the best trucks I've owned. The precise feel to them reminds me of the way my friends old maguns felt.

  • @Brian Lugbill this board is listed at 9.25 wide and you're putting 170mm trucks on? That's way too wide and you don't have a split? That's just a complete mismatch of how people set up decks like this nowadays. I would expect the trucks to be <130mm.

  • @Brian Lugbill ride what you got and have fun. Most people build setups for others to approve.

  • @Gabriel Fockler

yah I get it. It's not really a set-up that's relevant in modern racing per say. This is how DH setups used to be, minus the short wheelbase tho, and I like the feel a whole lot better than narrow trucks

  • I have to know some history on these truck where did these come from. Can't find anything online about them, look weird and I don't believe they have any redeeming qualities especially when you compare their performance to cast trucks. No offense but they remind me of amored precision or buzzed precision, boof🚫🧢

  • Looks like a freeboard. lol.

  • @Matt Needs Wheels

    @Anyone

regarding the trucks. They were designed by a world champion dh racer, who wishes to remain unnamed.
& frankly, I think I might be the only one here in chat that has skated magnolia barefoot or gotten an IDF (or other major) podium. Idk if that's true because I don't know all skaters ever etc. tho I'm definitely not a kook and the creator of the trucks is definitely not a kook & both of us have had numerous skate sponsors
I like 170mm, we talked about 140mm but I don't think those ever built. The project was ditched long ago, but anyone whose skated these trucks know they are the real deal. Munkaes on Steroids

  • Ewww munkaes you enjoy your trucks mane

  • @Brian Lugbill you've only skated stuff from the past. regarding the trucks. They were designed by a world champion dh racer, who wishes to remain unnamed.

  • Also lmao at how long the kingpins are.

  • At least I'm not riding Aeras or Powells

  • @Brian Lugbill

    or pantheons garbage

  • Well your opinion is garbage my friend, enjoy your most likely 15 year old knock off munkaes

  • @Logan Neikirk

anybody still skating Powell & Aera in 2k25 is a Goofy

  • @Brian Lugbill i think that your mostly just a braindead troll, but what is your beef with powell and aera?

I would certainly rather ride aeras than this setup, but at least explain your wildly unpopular take.

Also lmfao at the idea that your video of skating on the tail of your longboard 12 years ago as a seismic flow child gives you any authority. Even then you didn't know how to stand on a board, what makes you the premium wheel critic a decade later?

No one knows who you are other than you posting a setup that makes no sense and like 20 posts complaining about powell with no explanation. Wildly full of yourself, it's cringe.

  • @Gabriel Fockler
    Im from Boulder

    people know who I am

    & Powell & Aera aren't good

even when I lived In central coast Cali, the Powell riders there had trouble defending the wheels

    "there for shrubs"

  • @Brian Lugbill I'll defend the wheels especially since I've skated lots of sets. They work especially on grippy pavement, there's lots of duros and formulas. Some of the best freeriders use aera and Powell products, so your argument is invalid. David bubier skates Powell https://youtu.be/NhZAXl9JORg?si=76EY9czAlysoNECG

  • @Logan Neikirk

I'll believe it when I see a Powell Magnolia Run. K-Rimes said he's scared of the run

  • @Brian Lugbill what is good to you? Why are they bad? Can you actually explain what your issue is rather than just telling us how good you are?

  • @Logan Neikirk

Yah I mean that's a gradual run. On Steep stuff like Angie's curves, Powells become a liability and unsafe compared to just about any wheel that isn't icey. They don't slow down fast enough to be considered a good DH wheel, it's a dangerous situation over say 40-45.
only reason I was talking about myself is so people realize the set up & trucks isn't coming from some random kook... other dude called mi an idiot & not to listen to mi.. oc I'm gonna list my credentials if these dudes talk about mi that way. You seem cool tho, one of the skaters I grew up skating around was from Hawaii & skated barefoot a bunch. He was the guy who created Karrot bushings which Zak turned into Venom
